Service Dog Laws and the SCA

As service dogs become more common, understanding the laws about them will help your events be safer for handlers and non-handlers alike. Get Ready with Me: Roman Women’s Hair and Makeup

Using modern tools and cosmetics, we will recreate the fashion of a Roman woman for wear at SCA events. We will discuss the cosmetics used in ancient Rome and mimic the look using modern, easily accessible, and safe makeup and hair tools. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cosmetics and hair accessories to follow along with the instructor if desired. No limits, no fees. Style your hair like a renaissance lady! We will be learning to put our hair up and secure it with decorative ribbon. It helps to have longer hair for this, but there are tricks to getting that Medici Court look without having hair you can sit on. We will likely pair off so that one person can practice hair while the other is styled. No limits. $1 fee for ribbons. Optional hairpieces available for $12.

How to do Viking Wire Weaving

I supply wire and cutters , mandrels to work on and take home. A brief history of the craft. I include reference information. This class also, lets you brush up on the basic techniques to improve your craft. $5.00 fee gets you a mandrel, and enough wire to complete a bracelet or project. Includes a simple handout that tells step by step the process.

An introduction to the basic tools and methods used to place art or images into heavy weight leather. Each student will produce one leather newcomer insignia badge to keep or donate to future newcomers while learning pattern transfer, swivel-knife cutting, hammer tooling, edging, and dying techniques.
